Teddy's Weekly Photo Project

Wednesday, May 21, 2014

Hi all! So I am definitely not back to having the mental capacity to blog much right now but I wanted to share with you Teddy's weekly photo project. Now since he is only a little over two weeks we only have two photos to share. I am hoping to make this replace my weekly bump pictures (i.e. I am hoping to post these weekly instead of biweekly). For any of you YHL readers out there you know that I sort of copied Clara's weekly photo project. I say why reinvent the wheel. I loved watching their weekly photos of Clara and am enjoying seeing their weekly photos of their Teddy so I thought why not do that for our Teddy. Anyway,  I hope you enjoy seeing how much our little man has changed in just two short weeks!

Welcome to the World

Wednesday, May 7, 2014

Please join Jose and I in welcoming Theodore Damron Gonzalez  (Teddy) into the world. We are beyond elated to finally meet our baby boy.

He weighed 8lbs 2oz and is 20 inches long.  I cannot believe he is already here or how much I am in love with this little man.  So far Jose and I are making it through thanks to our wonderful family and friends but posts on here may be a little scarce for a bit, just until we adjust to this new roller coaster ride called parenthood. I thought it fitting to post this on his actual due date even though at this point he is five days old. So until we meet again here are just a handful of the pictures of our Teddy!

Lets get Mobile

Thursday, May 1, 2014

So I promised last week that I would go back and share with you guys some of the many DIY projects we put into the nursery. I thought I would start with showing you guys how I made the woodland mobile for above the crib.

This was such and easy project both in time and supplies. For each of the little animals I had big dreams of crocheting them so that once a mobile was no longer needed our little one could have them as homemade stuffed animals. Lets just say that with everything going on the crocheting took a back seat. I did however stumble across the animals I used in the Christmas ornament section at Target. One of the many reasons we love Target over here.

Anyway on to how to make the thing:

Supplies:

1. Animals

2. Bead Garland (also scored in the Christmas ornament section)

3. Embroidery Hoop

4. String

5. Hot Glue

6. A metal ring

7. A Command Hook

Steps:

1. First decide how you want your animals to hand from the embroidery hoop. I wanted more of a staggered look. Once your have decided this cut your string (I used sewing thread) to the appropriate lengths.

2. Once you have the animals strung onto the embroidery hoop then you are going the decide how you want your beaded garland to look. I played around with this before deciding I sort of wanted a beaded chandelier look.

3. Now for the last part string your metal ring through the beaded garland pieces and hot glue them in place.

4. You are finished. Now pick the perfect spot in your little ones room and hang with your command hook!
