Welcome to the World: Immaline

Tuesday, June 28, 2016

Hi everyone! If you follow me on Instagram or my personal Facebook you already know that we welcomed our second bundle of joy on May 3. Just two years and one day after we welcomed our first bundle of joy. Our sweet baby girl, Immaline Gail, came into the world at 8:32 PM and weighed 9 lbs 9 ounces. (Yes she was a natural delivery and yes I may have asked for a c-section a couple of times.)

Our sweet baby girl has added so much to our little family already and we are so very in love with her. Even big brother Teddy who loves to hug and kiss her but who is also starting to get a wee bit jealous of all the attention baby sister requires.

I plan on typing up her full birth story one day soon. You know once I get a handle on this whole two kiddo thing. Lets just say that this mama has been thrown for a loop having two little humans to take care of. However we are slowly figuring out what normal is now and I am just trying not to hold my expectations too high at this point. (So if you visit please excuse the mess and the fact that I haven't vacuumed in days weeks.)

Teddy's Two

Monday, June 27, 2016

I have had this post written for two months now, but you know life got in the way.  So with that being said here is a little more about our adventurous, loving, and exhausting two year old.

Where have the past two years gone? I mean I feel like just yesterday I was waiting not so patiently to meet our baby boy and now he is two. Can we all just come together and agree to make time slow down just a bit? I am not ready for this amazing little boy to grow up but yet he seems to defy my wishes on a daily basis. I feel like I was so good a documenting his first year of life and this year has just slipped away from me. So in an effort to not forget what my little man was like at two lets run through some of his favorites and accomplishments.

Teddy at two years old:

Current Favorites:

Daniel Tiger (Mommy has most of the songs and episodes memorized. Some new episodes would be greatly appreciated, hint hint PBS Kids)

Trains, planes, trucks, boats, buses, and automobiles (if it has a motor it is loved by Teddy but trains are his all time favorite)

Books (he loves reading and I really hope that he always will)

The Library

Bath time

Mommy and Daddy (he absolutely loves our family time and wants to be with both of us all the time)

Fruit and Carbs (he is his mama's boy)

Snow (not such a fan of the rain but he loves to be in the snow when it is falling)

The outdoors

Accomplishments:

Mostly Potty Trained (He still wears a diaper at night and for nap time)

Is very expressive and knows how to communicate what he wants most of the time.

Loves to be a big boy helper (the best compliment you can give him is to say that he helped in some way.)

Dislikes:

Most veggies (he will eat them if you do not draw attention to what it is. . . sometimes)

Being told No (but I mean who really likes this one)

When mommy or daddy leave (not really in a separation anxiety thing but more in a thinking that our time revolves around him)

So there you have it, a snapshot of what our little man is like these days. I was talking to a friend recently and she asked my opinion on something parenting related. My first inclination was to tell her to ask an experienced mom. You know someone who has done this longer than me but then it occurred to me that I can now be considered an experienced mom. Not that I have experience with every aspect of motherhood but I have done the newborn to early toddler stage now and therefore to some people that qualifies me to offer advice. Personally I think most days I am still floundering and I  am thankful that Teddy just loves me unconditionally even when I mess up. I am so thankful to have been entrusted to bring up this little man (and his little sister) and all I can hope is that I don't mess it up too much. Happy 2nd Birthday to the little boy who made me Mama. I love you more than words could ever say.
