So today we tackled the guest room closet. This is the closet that Jose has been using since we moved in. While we love our 1938 house and it has a number of closets, they are not big closets by any means. As a solution to this we found some school lockers at the Habitat for Humanity Restore. When I say we I really mean that Jose found them and concocted a plan to turn them into a closet for himself.
The first step was to acquire and transport the lockers home. This was a feat in itself seeing as how we have a prius and a civic. However the prius pulled through once again and we got the lockers home. We then proceeded to go about turning the red lockers white. This was no easy feat as it took 28 cans of white spray paint to adequately cover the fire engine red. Once painted and aired out the next step was to go through Jose's current closet and see what stays and what goes. (We are still in the process of doing this because we are both the type of people to say "what if I need that again"). So I do not have a picture of the lockers with Jose's things in them ( I promise to get to that later this week).
So there you have it a quick and quite charming solution to not having larger closets in our home. What storage solutions have you guys been up to? Do you have luxurious walk in closets or are you blessed with an older home like ours and you have to get creative?
