First off our day did not start as planned when we went to 5 different stores looking for a bike rack. (More on that tomorrow) Once we finally found a solution that would work for us we headed back home to begin the task of de-cluttering the guest room. Just for a little background we have not done anything in this room since moving in (almost 3 years ago). The best we have done is fill it with junk that we did not know what to do with. That being said here is a photo of the before.
As you can see, things galore located where they should not be. Now once we emptied the room it appeared a little more workable. We first began by making a thrift store pile, a trash pile, and then a keep pile. (The keep pile seemed larger than necessary, but it all fit back in there nicely.) Next we made a drawer of sorts to house things that go under the bed. I know ideally we would no longer have things under the bed, but as of right now that's not feasible. Just having this really freed up room and made things feel less cluttered.
As for now that's about all we have gotten done. We will be back tomorrow and the next day with a couple other projects that we completed to make this room really come together. What does your guest room look like? a magazine? or is it like ours a storage facility? I would love to hear what you have been up to in cleaning, decorating, and organizing.

Wow! we don't have a guest room but we do have something we call "the middle room" which will be a nusery one day when the Lord blesses us with a baby. But it tends to be more of a "junk room" than anything else. Good Luck on your journey to a de-cluttered home!
ReplyDeleteOur spare room is a disaster area...hopefully if I keep reading your posts I'll find the motivation to de-clutter as well :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome!! The guest room looks great, you two! Love it!
